About the Program

The Presidential Academy for American History and Civics will lead secondary school teachers in a careful study of the pivotal turning points in American history memorialized by the Declaration of Independence, the Gettysburg Address, and the “I Have a Dream” speech.

Faculty

The professors who will conduct the Presidential Academy, led by Dr. Lucas Morel from Washington and Lee University, are among the finest scholars of American history and government. Equally important, they are all outstanding classroom teachers, passionate about the subject they teach.

Ashbrook Center

The Ashbrook Center, an independent center at Ashland University, restores and strengthens the capacities of the American people for constitutional self-government. Since 1983, Ashbrook has demonstrated an extraordinary track record of success by building and refining a series of high-quality programs that impact teachers, students, and citizens.
